On May 1st, 2020, Dutch alternative pop singer/songwriter Säm Wilder will release his second single ‘Fiending’ from his upcoming project ‘Homebound’. Fiending is a sonic journey from front to back, where the listener is taken on a ride through a variety of vocal stacks, drums, organs and synths. Fiending was written and produced by Säm Wilder, and offers the listener a perfect taste of Säm’s unique sound, with hard-hitting lyrics and powerful melodies, surrounded by an otherworldly soundscape.

“I wrote Fiending about my life in LA after living here for a little over a year. I was in a position where I had a lot of outside voices influence my behavior. I started questioning the direction I was headed, and I experienced a big disconnect from the music I was making. When making Fiending, the beat and lead were recorded on the same day. It felt like I had found my voice again. I finally reconnected with the part of myself where my love for music had started. It’s the track that inspired the rest of my project Homebound. Fiending is about refusing to get lost in the unknown and how to not lose sight of yourself. What I’m ‘fiending’ for in the song is to be a version of myself that’s motivated and happy about the path I’m walking, and that doesn’t let outside voices create any doubt.”

The music video that pairs the single shows Säm Wilder performing in the back of a convertible as he’s driven through LA at night. Engulfed by lights and colors of the city around him, Säm comes off as a dreamer in a big city. “I wanted the video to be as transparent as it could be. I felt like a lost kid from Holland in LA trying to find my way through the glamour of the big city. Driving past these lit up landmarks, while performing a song about feeling out of place, in the back of a crappy convertible wearing an old hoodie-it just felt right. Seeing famous venues in LA I haven’t performed at yet never fails to motivate me. I know I’m still far from where I want to be, but I know I can control where I’m headed.”

Säm Wilder moved from the Netherlands to Los Angeles in 2017, originally going by the name Beekwilder. Wasting no time, Säm Wilder found himself on the lead single ‘Lava Lamps’ of Maty Noyes’ Lava Records release, ‘Love Songs From A Lolita’. Fusing his left-of-center pop voice with Los Angeles Hip/Hop, Säm Wilder has garnered attention from a wide base of fans. His recent appearance on TDE’s young recruit, Deveon’s ‘Free Cadillac’ and Säm’s writing credit on ‘Sweater’ by Spencer Sutherland showcase Wilder’s wide range of musical aptitudes.
