‘Sunlight’ describes appreciation for the life we’ve been given. The song is about living life struggling with a horrible sleep schedule, but it’s also about the pursuit of a meaningful existence, if only for a night. It’s about working hard throughout the night doing what you love, regardless of how that affects everything else in your life.
Säm Wilder described the Sunlight writing session as “extremely special”. Wilder says, “We had stayed up all night - Uncle Max started on some laptop synths from the couch. I instantly started freestyling melodies and writing lyrics. By the time the sun showed up and the birds started to chirp, we had a feeling of ‘oh shit, we really have something special here.”
Säm Wilder moved from the Netherlands to Los Angeles in 2017, originally going by the name Beekwilder. Wasting no time, Säm Wilder found himself on the lead single ‘Lava Lamps’ of Maty Noyes’ Lava Records release, ‘Love Songs From A Lolita’. Fusing his left-of-center pop voice with Los Angeles Hip/Hop, Säm Wilder has garnered attention from a wide base of fans. His recent appearance on TDE’s young recruit, Deveon’s ‘Free Cadillac’ and Säm’s writing credit on ‘Sweater’ by Spencer Sutherland showcase Wilder’s wide range of musical aptitudes.
‘HomeBound’ by Säm Wilder is an eight track EP. He experiments with his many voices in music driven by synth keys and large vocal stacks. Lead singles ‘Overtime’, ‘Fiending’ and ‘Sunlight’ are just a taste of his approach to music. HomeBound characterizes a time in Säm Wilder’s life being stuck in America waiting for visa approval, unable to go home to see his family. The ambiguous feeling of wanting to go home, while also not being able to leave his new home, led Säm to channel his frustrations into his first project ‘Homebound’.
